Dracaena are pretty versatile plants.  They come in a range of sizes, from compact stubby ones like this one to tall, upright growing varieties.

They are tolerant of being ingored and do ok in limited light situations. 

For the person new to growing plants, these are ideal.    They are a low-maintenance plant which also improve your indoor air quality.
