Haworthia retusa sp
This beautiful Haworthia is a cornerstone of any collection! Due to extensive hybridisation, it can be really difficult to name them correctly, but this retusa type is instantly recognisable for its plump, triangular leaves that form a beautiful rosette.
Information
Character and Care
This plant always looks clean and bright thanks to its semi-glossy appearance. It shares the wonderful traits of all Haworthia: it's exceptionally easy care and trouble-free!
-
The Windows: A standout feature of this particular plant is the small clear windows located on the tips of the leaves. When you hold them up to the light, these translucent areas are absolutely see-through, just like little panes of glass!
-
Light Preference: Unlike many sun-loving succulents, Haworthia actually grow better in less light than if exposed to full sun. You can easily grow them down on some of the bottom shelves where they don't seem to mind being forgotten about.
-
The Reward: Pot them up, ignore them a bit, and they will still reward you with growth and flowers! Anyone who collects Haworthia probably has this as one of the first ones they acquired—it's a tried and true favourite.
Why do I love them so much? Because they are so easy, as well as being so rewarding! Most succulents grow happily without being 'fluffed' over and really don't care if you forget about them for a while.
They achieve this amazing resilience by storing water in their thick leaves and stems. They are a brilliant choice for sunny positions and for anyone just starting their plant journey, as they require far less frequent watering than their jungle cousins.
These beauties truly are the ultimate low-maintenance companion!
