Any outstanding orders placed over the holiday period will resume processing from 5th January.

With such short weeks, I don't feel secure about posting and possibly having plants sitting in limbo for over a week.

I hope you are ok with this decision.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

Oxalis herrerae

Oxalis herrerae
Oxalis herrerae: Succulent Clover

Not Your Average Oxalis!

If the name Oxalis makes you nervous, fear not! Oxalis herrerae is nothing like those weedy things that most people usually associate the word with. This is an absolutely adorable succulent clover! This species does not produce any bulbs and behaves itself, growing as a graceful, trailing beauty.

Character and Care

This plant is an absolute delight and is fantastic for new plant parents because it talks to you!

  • Watering Indicator: This is one of the best plants for telling you when it needs a drink!   It needs a bit more water than some bone-dry succulents, and when it's thirsty, the leaves will get droopy and curl back on the stalk as a clear indication that it is ready for a decent drink.

  • Trailing Habit: They love to gracefully cascade downwards, making them perfect for a hanging pot (I grow mine as a hanging plant outside on a covered deck!).

  • Flowers: It rewards you by flowering repetitively, pushing out sweet little, bright yellow flowers on long stalks that stand proud of the foliage.

Why do I love them so much?   Because they are so easy, as well as being so rewarding!   Most succulents grow happily without being 'fluffed' over and really don't care if you forget about them for a while.

They achieve this amazing resilience by storing water in their thick leaves and stems.   They are a brilliant choice for sunny positions and for anyone just starting their plant journey, as they require far less frequent watering than their jungle cousins.

These beauties truly are the ultimate low-maintenance companion!
