This is a rewarding plant to grow, especially once it starts to drape!

Appearance: It features small, fleshy leaves along slender stems that gently trail. While there are two distinct forms of Othonna capensis, the key feature of both is their fantastic ability to change colour. I do have the red form as well.

Colour Enhancement: Stressing these plants—often through slightly less frequent watering or brighter light—will dramatically enhance the colours! The stems and leaves will blush and turn a gorgeous, deep ruby red or purplish colour, living up to its famous name.

Flowers: When happy, it produces small, bright yellow, daisy-like flowers that add a lovely, cheerful pop of colour against the green (or red!) foliage.
Why do I love them so much? Because they are so easy, as well as being so rewarding! Most succulents grow happily without being 'fluffed' over and really don't care if you forget about them for a while.
They achieve this amazing resilience by storing water in their thick leaves and stems. They are a brilliant choice for sunny positions and for anyone just starting their plant journey, as they require far less frequent watering than their jungle cousins.
