Ceropegia sandersonii
Information
Plant Details: Ceropegia sandersonii
Origin and Name:
-
This stunning plant is a perennial, twining succulent vine native to the subtropical regions of South Africa, Mozambique, and Eswatini.
-
It belongs to the same plant family (Apocynaceae) as other Ceropegia species and is also sometimes known as the Fountain Flower or Umbrella Plant.
Appearance:
-
It has glossy, fleshy, dark green foliage and the twining stems can reach a great length if given support.
-
Its unique flowers are specially adapted with internal structures to temporarily capture the pollinating flies.
Quick Care Note:
-
The sandersonii is a relatively easy-to-grow houseplant that prefers bright, filtered light and requires a free-draining soil mix.
Winter Care & Dormancy Alert
Please note: Many of our special Ceropegia varieties (including those with tubers/caudices) will naturally slow down growth during winter. They may even lose some leaves or appear to die right back (go dormant). Please do not panic if this happens!
To keep them healthy through the cooler months, simply reduce their water—especially if you notice them going dormant. When spring returns, they will reliably send out lovely new growth.
