Any outstanding orders placed over the holiday period will resume processing from 5th January.

With such short weeks, I don't feel secure about posting and possibly having plants sitting in limbo for over a week.

I hope you are ok with this decision.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

About Our Mystery Mix & Hardiness

A Lily with a Story: These are not your average nursery lilies!   They come from a thriving, decades-old population in our large farm pond.   We only harvest the rhizomes during rare, severe summer droughts when the pond naturally dries out.

Important Note on Colour (Please Read!):

We know for sure there are at least four stunning colours in the pond: a big white, two different types of pink, and a small, vibrant yellow variety.

  • The Surprise: Since we can only dig them out when the mud is dry (trust us, we aren't wandering into that deep, muddy mess otherwise!), the rhizomes have no leaves to identify them.   The colour you receive will be a complete, lovely surprise!

Extremely Tough & Hardy Plants:

Having survived the extremes of our changing seasons, these lilies are guaranteed to be super tough for your pond. They handle:

  • Summer Drought: They are champions at survival. They go into a deep dormancy when the water retreats (even when our pond turns into a hard, crusty desert you could drive over!). They'll shoot back up with fresh growth quickly once the rains return.

  • Winter Cold: They are truly hardy. They go dormant during the colder months and are perfectly safe, even if your pond water freezes solid.

Growing Guide: Bog & Aquatic Plants

General Care

Plants in this category are moisture lovers, requiring consistently damp soil or standing water to thrive.

  • Watering: For bog plants (like many marginals and carnivorous types), the soil should never be allowed to dry out completely.   Keep them in sealed pots or containers without drainage holes, or place them where the water table is naturally high.

  • Aquatic Plants: Water lilies and submerged plants generally require still, non-turbulent water and a suitable planting basket to keep them anchored.

  • Containers: For many marginals, placing the pots on a saucer of water is a good way to maintain hydration.

  • Fertilising: Be cautious with fertilisers, especially with carnivorous plants which get nutrients differently.   Always check individual product descriptions for specific feeding needs.

If you have any specific questions about plant placement or water conditions, just give us a shout!
