Hoya

Unlike most plants, hoyas will happily root along the stem.  It is not necessary to have a node under the soil to grow roots from, but I prefer to anyway.

Again, you will get lots of people who tell you to propagate them in water.   I rarely prop anything in water.   For hoyas, I chop them into lengths with at least 2 nodes or more.    Placing one of those nodes into my propagating mix.

I've tried pumice, leca, water, soil.   I still find soil as good as anything, that way the plantlet doesn't have to re-adjust once it is transferred to soil.  I often keep them in a prop box (plastic storage box with lid) or at least a high sided container, with pumice on the bottom which is kept damp.

Generally that is all I do.  The common ones just get placed amongst the plants I already have, they get no special treatment.  the fussier ones or the ones that I have spent too much on, I would put in the prop box.

My plants are all grown in my tunnel house, so the space is naturally very humid and warm.

You will also get told by many people that you 'need' this special Hoya mix.   My normal potting mix is 2/3 potting mix + 1/3 pumice.  I also add various other things.
